Are You Tire Smart?

Do you know how to properly maintain and inspect your tires? Tire blowouts are one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes but taking care of your tires can help you avoid that. Being tire smart includes knowing how to check tire pressure, measure tread depth, and when to do routine tire maintenance. Here are some helpful tire safety information:

Tire Pressure

  • You should be checking the tire pressure at least once a month.
  • Make sure tires are inflated at the correct PSI. You can find that on the door jamb.
  • Check tire pressure when the tires are cold or haven't been driven on in at least three hours.
  • You should also check the pressure on your spare tire.

Tire tread depth can be easily checked using the wear bars on the tire. They are visible at about 2/32nds tread depth and indicate that the tires need to be replaced. If you have questions about your tires or need your tires to be serviced contact us today to schedule an appointment.
